7. fix wardrobe
8. trim fringe
9. generally be better

I'VE RUN OUT OF IDEAS AGAIN i can't think of a single thing to write around. i think creativity and being miserable are synonymous for me. the only thing i can think to write about is the fact that i can't think of anything to write. is that irony? oh yeah.
i wish i could write something along the lines of amanda palmer, but maybe it only works because she puts words to music. and i can't sing a note, write a tune, or play a single instrument. oh wait no, i tell a lie, i can play the aquafresh themetune on the ukelele. i will only do it when i am drunk. jesus. all the things in the world, and i can't think about a single thing to say that is good. all the conflict, the issues, literature, art, science, even telly, and i am still talking about my lack of ukelele prowess.

  1. You're so not alone. I've hit the same creative rut. There is something fairly depressing about being creative yet having nothing to create.

Although I actually play an instrument so sadly I can't totally feel your pain.

  2. Equally though I also have an old ass wardrobe to update and a hoodie to wash.

Maybe washing our smelling hoodies and buying new clothes are the keys to our creativity.

  3. i did wash the hoodie, so it's clean, but it's all crispy now because i hadn't washed it in about two years. i still feel the same, although i did a few new pages in my sketchbook.
what is your instrument? probably something good like piano or guitar or drums. something i have absolutely no chance of ever being able to play.

  4. Hmm. At least you got some fresh creativity out there.

And lol it's guitar and drums. I learned drums first. Though your self-deprecation makes me laugh I'm sure you could embrace the guitar or something with a little effort. You seem creative enough.

  5. self deprecation actually is my pastime. i don't know if i could give up complaining about myself long enough to pick up a guitar.

  6. Ha. Has your pastime stopped you from picking up the guitar at all? Or were you like me when I first started and said "This is too much work just to be cool" lol

  7. yeah, i have a shitty giant guitar next to my sofa that i saved up £50 to buy and then was thoroughly disappointed when i couldn't play it immediately and it hurt my fingers. i got it from a pawn shop called smokey joes, and smokey joe himself is a bastard so he said he'd take it back for £10 which is such a rip that the shitty guitar is still behind my sofa. there is also a keyboard underneath my sofa, so it's a musical graveyard under there.

  8. What a fantastic phrase. "Smokey joe himself is a bastard".

Anyway, I had the same exact feeling when I first learned guitar as a Freshman in high school. It was goddamn difficult and the drums satisfied me plenty at the time.

2 years ago though I decided to learn it again and finally stuck to it. It's totally worth it; pardon the sap, but I do love how much I can express my creativity through the strings.

Hate to give you the generic "Hey man just keep at it and you'll figure it out" advice, but it's too true. That and I think you'd come up with some great stuff once you got the hang of it.

  9. no seriously ask anyone in newcastle, he's a proper crook! he deals in stolen gear, and his shop is only about a foot wide so when you're in it, it's you, him, a hundred shitty old gameboys, and occasionally his friend who stares at you and smells like burnt apple cores, and you're all confined in this tiny space and you can't look at them and it's awkward and awful. my guitar barely fitted in the shop, which is unsurprising because it's huge anyways. lugging it home on the metro was oodles of fun.
nonetheless i will get around to learning, if not a song on the guitar, a song on the uke.
